Are you familiar with Brandt Brauer Frick, the only successful attempt made at creating techno music with acoustic instruments? Yes, no? Anyway, one of the guys involved is Jan Brauer. Together with Patrick Flynn, Brauer has composed music for Jasmin Ihraç’s dance performance “On Confluence,” something which “inspires participation” according to the the culture critics over at WAZ. It’s an experiment in rhythm, whereby pretty fast, restless, and hastily put together vocal sound bites are placed alongside something close to Deep House, where there is a deeper lying melody, but most importantly drums, drums, and more drums. It’s rhythm, where rhythm is drugs.
